GUITAR or BASS. Fun To Professional.

posted: November 6, 2009, 08:45 AM

Replybritishguy@comcast.net

MAYBE THE MOST EXPERIENCED PLAYER/TEACHER IN FORT LAUDERDALE. I teach because I want to, and because I enjoy it. I'm easy going and efficient.

I TEACH MONDAY thru FRIDAY. Daytime/early eve, .

I CAN SHOW YOU "HOW" all the great players do what they do, or just how to enjoy yourself with your guitar or bass.

HI! MY NAME IS DOUG, I'm originally from England. I've worked professionally for over 30yrs, all over the world, in front of tens to thousands, and still really enjoy playing. I started when I was 11yrs old, and have played many styles. I've been teaching guitar and bass here(Fort Lauderdale) for several years, also in the U.K. I'm an advanced player.

I TEACH: BEGINNER, AMATEUR, SEMI & PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS in a warm friendly atmosphere - IN MY "FLORIDA ROOM". It's not like school.

I TEACH BY: "EAR METHOD" ONLY - NO READING MUSIC. No books used. Everything explained. If you want a certain song, I can show you almost any one, note for note, within seconds. I do read music, but I've been playing professionally all over the world for over 30 yrs and have practically never needed it. In some circumstances it is needed - at school, in church, in a dance band, an orchestra or to do most session work, for instance. Most guitarists and bass players in blues, rock, pop, country, reggae etc. etc. don't need to read music!

I TAILOR EACH LESSON TO EACH PERSON - ONE ON ONE (I don't hold group classes).

TECHNIQUE and THEORY are made easy!

MY DECADES OF EXPERIENCE INCLUDE: Blues, Rock, Heavy, Fusion, Jazz, Funk, Dance, Pop, Country, Rock-a-Billy, Soul, Latin, Swing etc... Many decades covered, including this one(Plain White T's thru Satriani).

EXTENSIVE CHORD & SOLO KNOWLEDGE. Basic chords to very advanced(power to 13-9 etc.) also chord construction. SOLO: basic to advanced - diatonic(doh ray mi), pentatonic, blues scales, modal playing(using modes), hammer-ons/pull-offs, sweeps, arpeggios, bends, pedal notes, plus loads of other interesting stuff, if you want it! (tabs etc...) Everything to make you a great SOLO and/or RHYTHM player.

I USE MANY SHORT-CUTS and simple logic.(Without missing a thing!)

WHOLE FRETBOARD simplified in non-tech language.

EACH LESSON: 1 FULL HOUR. ONLY: $30.

CALL or email (see above), DOUG SCALES: 954-625-2030. Day/Eve.

Since starting the lesson program in 2002, we have conducted over 50,000 lessons to more than 1000 students. We teach beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons on Guitar, Bass, Keyboard-Piano, and Vocal. Many styles are taught, including: classical, jazz, pop, country, classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal.

• We offer private, one-on-one, hour long lessons. This personal attention gives the student the chance to develop skills at their own pace while we focus on their individual musical needs. Hour long lessons give us the time to provide the student with an effective and thorough lesson. We do not offer 30 minute or group lessons.

• Each lesson consists of two parts. In the first half of the lesson we teach music theory. This includes notes, chords, scales, and reading tablature or standard music notation. The second half of the lesson is a jam session with the teacher. We will teach the student any song they want to learn or songs we feel they can pickup rapidly to give them a sense of accomplishment. Students are encouraged to bring in their own iPod, CD’s or songbooks to learn from.

• Instead of books, we use computer software programs to teach students music theory & songs. It is not required that you purchase the software. However, it is recommended to practice at home using the software to accelerate the learning process. If you wish to buy any of the software, we offer a 20% discount to our students. We can send the student home with printed practice assignments if you are not interested in purchasing the software.

• We have ten lesson rooms that are outfitted with computers, amplifiers, speakers and internet access. Video cameras with sound are in each room and can be viewed in the showroom. Once a year we will provide each student with a dvd-video recording of one of their lessons for them to keep.

• $160 will get you started with four weeks of private lessons. These one hour lessons will be scheduled at the same time and day each week. We teach six days a week. After the initial four lessons, you may sign up for more lessons with any teacher on our staff. Regularly scheduled weekly lessons are as low as $40 each for a full hour. Single lessons are $50 per hour.

• Lesson Availability: Monday-Thursday 2-8 / Friday 2-6 / Saturday 10-6. Twelve teachers are on staff and have the capability to teach 300 students weekly. We encourage you to try different teachers for a variety of teaching styles.

• The Florida Store Is Open Monday Thru Thursday 11am to 8pm, Friday 11am to 6pm, and Saturday 10am To 6pm. Sunday Varies, Call First. We are close to Davie, Weston, Plantation, Sunrise, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, and Ft. Lauderdale In Broward County Florida.

Beautiful Vintage (1976) Custom S.D. Curlee \ Alembic 4 String Bass

posted: November 5, 2009, 04:16 PM

Replyclick here

I am the original owner of this bass. I purchased it in 1977. I soon after rebuilt the bass. The body is contoured, with custom wood inlays on the face. The back plates and bridge are all hand spun and clear coayed.Brass open face Grover tuners. The bass has a brass nut for incredible sustain. I replaced the Dimarzios with A Active Alembic pickup set. The tone control is incredible. If yu turn from bass to treble fast it actually sounds like a Wah-Wah.
The control compartment is lined with thin sheets of lead. This is a very quiet bass. This bass plays and sounds like a freakin monster. You get a very wide range of tones with the Alembic system in it.The bass comes with the original hardshell beatup case.
I am looking for $800.
Or best offer. This is a one of a kind bass. Everyone that has played this bass loves it.
Thanks

GUITAR PLAYERS does learning theory scare you? Play in 7 modes-NOW!

posted: November 2, 2009, 01:35 PM

Replyclick here

This method allows you to play the modes by simply using ONLY ONE fingering pattern that you may already know. I will tell you how to place it- counting a few frets up or down the neck and going across all six strings. I’ve been using this method for over twenty years now. It’s fool-proof and always works. For electric or acoustic guitar and bass. I developed this method and registered the copyright on it in 1986; it is 100% original.

Play in:
DORIAN
PHRYGIAN
AEOLIAN
IONIAN
LYDIAN
MIXOLYDIAN &
LOCRIAN modes-in any key!

You don’t need to know ANY theory at all as this is a bypass around music theory. This will open the door for your advancement in a very big way. Only $10.00; FREE shipping. E-mail me for the first two paragraphs of the method. I can prove that it’s not a scam.

http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog From Modes Method users:
It arrived to my home Saturday. I just tried recording a minute of varied grooves over a B minor chord. I played the Dorian and Aeolian modes over that. I like this!….Thanks a lot, --Charles

Thanks--Interesting concept.--Bill

I really appreciate your explanations. Very clear. Thanks so much for your instruction. Steve

Learning music theory takes years- -now you can play modes in minutes!

posted: October 27, 2009, 11:20 AM

Replyclick here

If you play the guitar and do not want to learn music theory, you can now play seven modes in all twelve keys instantly. My Modes Method shows you how to move a fingering pattern (that incorporates all six strings) up or down the neck by counting frets. Yes, it is that simple. You just learn one fingering position and move it around. Think about it-- all these modes are available in every key instantly, without memorizing note names:

MIXOLYDIAN
AEOLIAN
LYDIAN
IONIAN
PHRYGIAN
DORIAN &
LOCRIAN

I have been using this method for 21 years, playing for 42 years. It works every time-never play a wrong note. You will not believe how this will expand your playing ability. Bypass music theory. Only $10.00, and you do not pay any shipping charge. Works for bass, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. Write me for part of the text, free. I am not a scammer; I can prove this to you.

http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog

From Modes Method users:
When I first looked at your explanation, I thought to myself, there is no way it is this easy; then I started playing different scales based on your theory-and it actually works. I’m impressed. -Josh

Just getting into the info -- great concept! -- lots of possibilities --Thanks, Don

Its funny, you play for years and you tend to over look some of the simple things that tie it all together. Thats what your method did for me, just remembering where the root notes are and sliding the modes up or down is a simple thing but you forget that when your thiking about other things going on in the song.
Thanks, Joe

Wow!.....I am speechless. Its sounds way to good to be true. Though it is comforting to know a few good decent people do exist. Thank you, for offering such a incredible service. Gus
