The Manager, Category Management reports to the Director of Clinical Category Management. This role is responsible for the development of strategic sourcing strategies for assigned direct & indirect category spend. Major areas of responsibility include professional fees and purchased services across a variety of clinical and non-clinical service lines. Partners closely with the FP&A group to ensure all purchases are made within the business units' budget and vendors have adhered to established contractual pricing agreements. This position is responsible for the delivery and execution of strategic sourcing projects for PSM. This includes defining category specific strategy plans and leading the sourcing process to include market and baseline analysis, managing suppliers, developing and implementing strategies, performing supplier capability assessments, continuous improvement and benchmarking that supports the sourcing category.

* Review volumes for opportunities for future negotiations, and perform pricing validation to ensure compliance.

* Support and execution of supply chain initiatives and coordinate with materials management, end users, and others as necessary.

* Conduct periodic business reviews with major agreements to ensure appropriate levels of service is attained.

* Provide guidance, accountability and management of assigned categories including identification and reporting of cost savings and cost avoidance.

* Identify and lead business process improvements through the development and implementation of strategic initiatives supporting PSM.

* Manage programs to enhance cross-enterprise integration and to create and enhance a continuous improvement culture.

* Develop RFx's, evaluate and communicate the responses

* Analyze spending and develop optimization strategies.

* Lead and participate in cross functional teams.

* Actively participate in the negotiation of agreements.


* BA/BS in Business, Finance or Supply Chain Management, Master's degree preferred

* 5 - 8 years' relevant experience, Healthcare environment preferred

* Professional Certifications (CPSM or equivalent) a plus

* Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management and Change Management preferred

* Prior people management experience preferred

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

* Experience with the contracting process and negotiating Terms and Conditions

* Excellent communication skills and a high degree of comfort presenting to an executive level audience

* High degree of customer service focus

* High degree of comfort performing in an evolving environment

* Strong analytical skills, creative problem solver with a high degree of initiative

* Strong procurement and sourcing skills

* Strong negotiation skills

* Must possess strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests with the goal of obtaining cooperation

* Must possess the ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality

* Comprehensive proficiency of Microsoft office applications, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word

* Experience with SQL and/or Qlikview and plus
