The YMCA of South Florida's Youth Development Branch is seeking an organized, energetic, highly motivated Academic Coach to join their team in Broward County The Academic Coach is responsible for enhancing after-school programs and adapting curriculum for participants through program development, Project Based Learning and design. The Academic Coach is responsible for the coordination and tracking of all the professional development training for staff. Essential Functions: Manages all aspects of curriculum development for MOST after-school and summer programs. Coaches teachers on Project Based Learning instructional best practices with STEAM as the focus. Plans, curriculum activities for various groups of children in accordance to both age and developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by licensing agencies, funding agencies and the YMCA of South Florida mission. Assists with the overall experience within the MOST afterschool & summer programs, including (but not limited to) family newsletters, special events, and social media presence. Promotes and provides staff training on a regular basis. Develops new training components. Facilitates and participates in scheduled personnel professional development training. Organizes and or assists with training events. Collaborates with Program leadership teams to enhance program quality. Encourages and supports staff development through continuous shadowing, training, monitoring, redirection and recognition. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration. Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development and implementation of STEAM initiatives and PBL curriculum. Supervises compliance with regulatory, statutory and grant requirements as they relate to curriculum. Prepares periodic reports necessary to keep Executive Directors properly informed about current programs, operations and evaluations of assigned curriculum programs. Job Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in education or related field with experience developing school age curriculum. Four to six years' experience in childcare curriculum development. Knowledge and understanding of Curriculum Design Models. Strong facilitation skills. Must be organized and capable of conducting site visits. Good verbal and written communication skills. Capacity to learn and train others on a variety of curriculum tools. Ability to relate to people; understand and practice YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
