Job Description
Boatsetter is applying technology to disrupt the boating industry. We connect renters, owners and captains directly on our software platform, allowing renters to easily schedule a boating trip, while offering owners a way to monetize their boats when not in use. We have often been described as the Airbnb of boating. Boatsetter represents over 5,000 boats in several hundred locations in the U.S. and recently expanded overseas through our partnership with Luxury Retreats, a division of Airbnb. We work out of a new headquarters in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After acquiring a competitor in 2017 (Boatbound), the combined entity is now the largest boat:sharing marketplace in the U.S.
Our technology team consists of a small group of talented engineers and product managers who are passionate about building cutting:edge software solutions to serve the boat:sharing economy. Each engineer has the opportunity to touch all facets of the platform and is expected to contribute across the stack. We utilize open source technologies and host on AWS. Similarly, our product managers work across the feature set : gathering input from stakeholders, conceiving of new features, translating desired UX into specs for engineering, measuring user engagement and managing our product roadmap. We utilize agile development methods and try to deliver value for the business every day.
We are seeking an innovative product manager to join our growing team and help us build out the next level of our product offerings. As a product manager, you will be responsible for owning the development and delivery of new product features by conducting market research and user testing, drafting product design specs and working with the engineering team to get them built. You will also collaborate with other internal stakeholders to understand their needs and create product proposals to meet those. You will define business metrics and closely monitor the performance of our products. Overall, you will own the product vision, translate that into product goals and define a comprehensive product roadmap that achieves them.
Drive the vision and delivery of innovative new products to keep Boatsetter services relevant and competitive for our user segments.
Conduct market research to identify user needs. Keep abreast of competitive offerings.
Based on market research and input from internal stakeholders, create list of product features to build and prioritize based on expected impact.
Product requirements and detailed specifications for new product features. Determine user experience flows through product and work with UI designers to create product design artifacts.
As new product features become development projects, manage the hand:off to engineering, communicate updates and verify expected functionality following development completion.
Own product vision and goals. As the business evolves, continuously update and communicate your view of our product opportunities and offerings.
Conduct demos of product features to stakeholders and external partners. Provide the conduit for feedback and suggestions that might influence the next version of product features.
Develop metrics to assess the success of products, track their performance and make adjustments to product features to achieve desired product goals.
Work with Sales to develop product pricing and positioning strategies.
Translate the product experience across different delivery mediums : web, mobile, tablet, social apps, etc.
Drive product launches, including working with Marketing, Sales and other department heads to coordinate and communicate product feature changes.
