Purpose: The Senior Project Accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project costs are paid timely and in accordance with contracts and project budgets. Responsibilities: * Create project accounts in the accounting system. * Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders. * Monitor and review the contractor's insurance certificates for amounts and expiration and requests for rate increases to ensure that they are in compliance with the terms of their contract. * Analyze and review supporting documents for billing details, including the collection and tracking of lien releases both throughout the job and upon job completion. * Audit subcontractor and supplier invoices, and schedule them for approval and payment. * Investigate significant variances between actual and forecasted billings, in comparison to budget. * Review and analyze cost at completion forecasts by Project Managers. * Monitor and analyze the project profitability / risk for projects with savings components and / or guaranteed maximum prices. * Identify budget variances in job cost forecasts, and resolve related issues with the project management team. * Close out project accounts upon project completion, including audit and review of GMP and shared savings contracts and collection of final lien waivers. This includes travel to job sites as necessary. * Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required. * Prepare monthly reconciliations of work in process balance sheet accounts to subsidiary construction ledger. * Audit and maintain vendor setup for all construction vendors in accordance with company policies and procedures. * Participate in monthly meetings with Project Managers and Senior Management. * Complete special projects as directed by Senior Management. * Evaluate processes and procedures related to this position in the context of continuous improvement. Knowledge of project contracts and change order documents, industry jargon and industry trade agreements, various types of construction contracts such as Construction Management as Agent, Owner's Representative, Guaranteed Maximum Price, Lump Sum, etc., knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and corporate policies and procedures. Knowledge of project contracts and change order documents, industry jargon and industry trade agreements, various types of construction contracts such as Construction Management as Agent, Owner's Representative, Guaranteed Maximum Price, Lump Sum, etc., knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and corporate policies and procedures. ~UP
